The Ultimate ATS Guide
Understanding Applicant Tracking Systems is the key to getting your resume seen by human eyes.
What is an ATS?
An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is software used by recruiters to collect, sort, scan, and rank the job applications they receive. If your resume isn't formatted properly, the ATS cannot read it, and you'll be automatically rejected.
3 Rules for Beating the ATS
- No exotic fonts or images: ATS parsers hate complex graphics, tables, and two-column layouts. Keep it simple.
- Exact Keyword Matching: If the job description asks for "HTML5", do not just write "HTML". The bot looks for exact phrase matches.
- Standard Headings: Use standard section titles like "Work Experience" or "Education". Do not use "My Journey" or "Where I studied", as the software won't recognize the sections.
